Understanding Rivets Sizes

Open end blind rivets are the most common type sold across hardware stores and online. Available in 3 common head types – truss, countersunk and large flange.

A larger flange rivet is used when a wider surface head type is required usually with soft or brittle top sheets.

Other types of blind rivets include a sealed rivet that features a totally enclosed rivet end, the mandrel is sealed inside. Multigrip rivets offer an extended grip range with a standard rivet body diameter.

How to read blind rivets codes?

Example: 2AS4-10

"2" – Allfasteners Group Code

"A" – Rivet Material Code

"S" – Mandrel Material (stem) Code

"4" – Rivet Diameter Code (see table)

"10" – Grip Range Code (see table)

2AS4-10 is an aluminium rivet with a steel mandrel, and a 3.2mm (1/8") body diameter with a grip range of 12.7 – 15.9mm
