The Rozelle Interchange project, completed in November 2023, is transforming Sydney’s traffic landscape by significantly reducing congestion. This ambitious initiative has overcome various engineering challenges, including the intricate task of securing heavy load-bearing structures in a densely populated urban area.
Allfasteners made a substantial impact by introducing the EF500R+ chemical anchor system, paired with Ceratec’s Virtuous Enamelled Steel Panels. This innovative combination, chosen for its exceptional durability, guarantees top-tier compliance and performance. The pure epoxy in the EF500R+ anchors effectively secures both cracked and uncracked concrete, ensuring long-lasting results.
The Rozelle Interchange, linking the M4 to the Anzac Bridge and M8 to City West Link and Victoria Road, is a critical infrastructure project designed to ease congestion for both commuters and transport operators.
In this project, Allfasteners, through Ceratec, created a solution for firmly embedding base anchors and wall anchors. The base anchors ran along the concrete slip form, while the wall anchors faced challenges transitioning from shotcrete to sandstone substrate.
Not just any anchor off the shelf could facilitate the complexities of the tunnel design coupled with the cladding solution. Until, EF500R+ arrived on the scene.
The EF500R+ chemical anchor, featuring a two-component pure epoxy formula, is an optimal solution for tunnels due to its 100-year design life and exceptional load-bearing capabilities for both cracked and uncracked concrete. Complying with the latest National Construction Code and Australian Standard
AS 5216 for bonded anchoring and post-installation, it was the perfect match for the demands of the Rozelle Interchange project.
Additionally, EF500R+ stood out as a versatile solution, tackling cost, volume, certification, and approvals effortlessly. To prove its effectiveness, the Sydney Allfasteners team took it to the site for a pull test, demonstrating its impressive capabilities firsthand.
Ceratec’s vitreous enamelled steel panels offer unmatched durability and performance. The collaboration between Allfasteners, Ceratec, and on-site contractors ensured the successful integration of these panels, enhancing the project’s aesthetic and architectural integrity.
“We were ecstatic to be able to test and supply EF500R+, not only to Ceratec to overcome their site challenges, but also to one of Sydney’s most influential projects this decade” Josh Davis, Business Development Manager.
Their EF500R+ chemical anchor system and partnership with Ceratec have set a high standard for future infrastructure projects, proving the considerable value in collaboration, innovation, and the seamless integration of various construction elements.
