It features large x-shaped ‘mega brace’ supports on the outside of the structure, made from box section by Allmen Engineering. An M64 Gr8.8 stud bolt was specified for the connection. Allmen needed a supply of these heavy stud bolts with full certification, within a short lead time, including ultrasonic testing and a galvanising method that would remove the risk of hydrogen embrittlement; this made the choice of supplier a challenge.
