Bimetal SD500® 12-24 Torx Countersunk Wing Tip Self Drilling Screws
SD500 self drilling are made of 316 series stainless steel with a heat treated hardened drill tip for the purpose of drilling into steel – up to 12mm thick.
The torx head drive ensures consistent driving in hard still without slipping or damaging the head or drill tip.
Other features include a winged tip, this clears a hole in the timber surface when drilling to enable the countersunk head to sit neatly flush.
A pilot hole can be used in the surface to help center your screws however it is not necessary. For best practice allow the full tip and a few threads to protrude through the steel on the blind side – this will increase the life of your structure.

Our torx head bimetal screws have a single layer zinc plated surface coating therefore will not appear to have a typical stainless steel look. This is simply part of our manufacturing process ensuring a high level of corrosion protection, whilst ensuring drilling performance is maintained.
Stainless 316 steel screws have a high-corrosive resistance and are preferred material type in coastal and other corrosive environments.

CORROSION RESISTANCE
Austenitic stainless steel 316 grade with a Ruspert coating. Marine grade 316 stainless steel provides adequate corrosive resistance, whilst the Ruspert plated surface ensures an aesthetic surface appearance and aids in storage, transportation and installation.
Ruspert coating is a high-grade metal surface technology that prevents surface corrosion. Consisting of a baked ceramic surface coat and a second metallic zinc layer, these layers are bonded together through chemical reactions producing a strong coating like film.
